Goal:

To establish a drill team that has fun and promotes riding and horses. We will show off in a professional manner at parades and events. This will be a learning experience for everyone and I should hope that as a group we create many memories and have a lot of fun. There is no pressure to compete this up coming year. I will leave the final decision open to the group. We will be riding at the game shows as soon as we are ready but I would like to run the American flag during the National Anthem at the April 30 play day.

Rules/ Bylaws

This is pretty simple:

1. Please call if you will miss a practice. My Cell Phone Number is 253 224 7417. I will understand if you have reason. But please remember drill is a commitment. If you miss two practices you will not drill in the next event. Miss two events you will not drill this season. You are part of a team and you are NEEDED. We practice with you and it is hard to ride with holes in our drill. I will not make a float rider. If you don't feel like you can make every practice maybe this is not for you.

2. Drill will start promptly on Sundays (until the light gets better) at 3 PM.  That does not mean show up at three or enter the arena at 3 or 3:15 that means be riding by 2:45 or you will not have a warm up. I will not wait for you. Tardiness will be treated the same as not showing up. If we have begun drilling and you are not in the arena you may as well ride in the warm up arena. I can not have people interrupting practice to warm up or ask questions I have already answered. Same applies for later practices.

3. If you should obtain a new drill horse in the middle of the year for any reason you must ride this horse at two practices prior to any event. If you should switch back the same rules apply. (this excludes parades you can ride any horse in a parade)

4. Please keep personal talking down to a minimum. Use your warm up time to get to know each other.

5. If you are having a problem with another rider's skill or attitude (i.e. a horse keeps running in to you) please bring it up to me instead of blurting it out in front of everyone. We are not here to judge or humiliate

6. I hope that everyone can participate in any fundraising events, group events and decorating parties. If you are unable to participate in the fund raiser, please let me know in advance.

7. Any horse can ride in drill it does not have to be perfectly trained. This is a fun experience. But if your horse KICKS it will be removed from practice and this will count as a missed practice, no matter what time you are removed. If there are 3 offenses you are out for the season. This is a safe area.  A kick out or crow hop doesn’t count.  If your horse is kicking with intent to hurt another horse, this is when it counts.  Lana and I will be the ones who decide this.  You can pull your horse if you feel that you are having a problem.

8. Just thought you should know that I hate writing these things it sounds mean.

9. ALL RIDERS UNDER 18 WILL WEAR A HELMET AT ALL TIMES WHILE MOUNTED. I will not continually remind you = I will just not allow you to practice that night.  Which will count as a missed practice.

10. You must be a member of MRC by March 9th to drill this up coming season. You cannot ride in the MRC arena unless you are a member. Excluding  playdays.

11. All current rules of Meridian Riding Club apply.

Reasons I will dismiss you from the Team

I really don't even want to put this in here but I will

1. Continually late to practice. We cannot drill with you if you are more than 10 minutes late.

That means saddled up riding not just showing up. Also you will miss warm up and any other discussions we have.

2. Missing all the before MRC meeting practices. This will be the time we do a walk thru and discuss any concerns we have about the team or drill. It is important we show that we are also interested in the Club. I consider this a practice and it will be at the same time as regular practice. If you can make it to practice you can make it to this.

3. Missing 4 practices through the year see above.

4. Rude/lude conduct or behavior. I don't stand for mistreatment of horses or of people I will have a zero tolerance policy.

5. Horses Kicking or biting other horses. Your horse should be able to play well with others.

There are NO dues. We pay to join the club therefore we do not pay dues. This means that we will need funding from elsewhere since I do not expect MRC to pay for us. I want to try to ask around for sponsors. Also we will need fundraising ideas. Other wise some cost will be out of pocket and I am really trying not to have to make you do that.

***Special note anyone can ride in the parades.
